Thursday, November 23, 2006 @ 11/23/2006 01:04:00 AM In the last few sentence of yesterday’s post, I said “it’s just the money issue that makes the whole thing (competition)…” then I don’t know how to continue right? Yup I still don’t know how to continue, but all I can say is my point was proven right today. Don’t know what I’m trying to say? Never mind. I just finished watching Project Superstars 2 QF1’s results show. Mag, Veron, Shiyu and Kenny was eliminated. Veron got the highest points for this QF – 37, and yet she was eliminated. Honestly speaking I am and am not surprised. Because if you had been following closely to such competitions like me (I didn’t watch every single one), usually (not all the time) those who scored very well during the first few QFs cannot make it far (as in couldn’t make it to the last few rounds). Yi Yuan had the best score during the QF1 of Campus superstar. After which he also did quite well. I thought he would win, but was eliminated during the first semi finals. Jing Bao Yue Tuan wows everyone with impressive performance during the Big Jam of the Superband, but was eliminated during QF4. Wu Luo Yi got 90/100 during QF1 of Superhost, but was eliminated during that round too. And RIGHT NOW, history repeats again – Veron (Yang Xue Ni), got 37 points, was voted off today. The rest who got eliminated were not the ones that got the lowest score. I guess this is largely due to this 70-30 system. I think after today’s results show it would lead to another round of controversies, saying “so and so should be eliminated instead of so and so” or even “I hate that so and so because he/she ‘kicked’ out so and so”. Well I can assure you that the contestants (not only the PSS contestants) have NO control over the final results other than just do their best to give a wonderful performance; it’s really unfair to accuse them for ‘kicking the stronger ones out’. Honestly speaking I was a little skeptical about the voting system. But there are both sides to the argument; some would say letting the audience to have the 70% authority to decide the results while 30% given to the judges is a little too much - the audiences are not professionals so they have no idea who is the best and blah, blah, blah…But if the judges are given the major authority to decide then if so and so was ousted, every week there would be a group of people complaining “I want so and so to be in…” and whatever nonsense. Somehow, this statement would be the conclusion of the controversy – Mediacorp is cheating our money? I don’t know. I guess there are things that the contestants know and we are not supposed to know (so lets not probe further about this). After some ‘experiences’ in watching such shows, my stand would be this (and from now on I would view such shows with this perception) – while it is a real pity for the better ones to be voted off so early, I shall respect the decision of the people that decides the outcome. It’s their choice. I didn’t use the word ‘our’ because I can’t participate in the voting – I’m using prepaid mobile. LOL so all I have to do is to enjoy the show. Let me make myself clear – no hard feelings! Sorry if that sounds offensive but that is also facts. Anyway, seeing the contestants hugging and crying together after the announcing the results make me a little sad too. It’s definitely upset to part with friends who have been through ups and downs with you, isn’t it? Other issues: I’ve found out from Kimberly that it would not be easy for me to shift the tagboard to under the ‘links’ as the codes used are in xml code which is not html code. She suggested that I search for other blogskins which only used html code (right?). I have decided not to do so as I want to keep (the layout) it as simple as possible. Ok go ahead and accuse me for being lazy if you want to. So for your convenience I would just shift it on top (of the links) since this is the only way out… Labels: weird thoughts |
